Ministerial Resolution No. 334 was issued on 4/23/1988 to establish the Higher Institute of Technology in Benha. The study period is five years to obtain a bachelor’s degree. The resolution allowed for the study to be continuous or in stages according to the system specified in the internal regulations of the institute, which are issued by a decision of the Minister of Higher Education. On 4/26/1988, Ministerial Resolution No. 347 was issued to form a committee to develop a study plan for the academic classes at the institute, taking into account that the scientific level of the curriculum should not be less than a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and that it should be distinguished by a specialized technological nature in accordance with the latest scientific developments in this field. The committee included many deans and professors of Egyptian universities and industry experts in Egypt. Studies at the Institute began on October 8, 1988. The President of the Republic inaugurated the Institute on November 19, 1988. The study plans were prepared during the period from April 1988 until the internal regulations were submitted to Professor Dr./Minister of Education in September 1990 for referral to the Supreme Council of Universities to equate the Bachelor's degree granted by the Institute with the Bachelor's degrees granted by the Faculties of Engineering at Egyptian universities in similar specializations. During this period, the State benefited from the expertise of specialists in the United Kingdom through a cooperation program between the Ministry of Higher Education and the British Council, in addition to Egyptian experts. The Supreme Council of Universities, in its session dated January 8, 1994, approved the recommendations of the Equivalency Committee of the Council in its session dated December 30, 1993, to equate the Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Technology granted by the Higher Institute of Technology in Benha with the Bachelor's degree in Engineering granted by Egyptian universities in similar specializations.
