This interdisciplinary program bridges civil and architectural engineering. Construction Engineering and Management combines aspects of civil engineering, project management, and architecture. Successful project completion requires understanding engineering principles, business administration, procedures, economics, and human behavior.
Construction engineers are responsible for designing temporary structures, ensuring and monitoring quality, planning and surveying construction sites, testing on-site materials, conducting site surveys, designing concrete mixes, cost estimation and planning/scheduling, safety engineering, materials and procurement, equipment selection, cost engineering, and budget control. Construction engineering differs from construction management in the level of mathematics, science, and engineering used to analyze construction problems and processes.
Program Highlights:
- Accreditation: The Construction Engineering program leads to a Bachelor of Engineering degree (Construction Engineering and Management specialization) and qualifies graduates for registration with the Egyptian Syndicate of Engineers upon fulfilling graduation requirements within the civil engineering division.
- Skills Development: The program develops the skills and knowledge needed to successfully complete construction projects on time and within budget, adhering to building codes and safety regulations, while upholding ethical and social responsibility. Graduates will have the knowledge and skills to pursue research opportunities after graduation and find employment locally or internationally in commercial, design, construction, and residential sectors within the construction industry.
- Credit Hour System: The program at Benha Faculty of Engineering, Benha University, utilizes a credit hour system, aligning with global trends in higher education. This system offers students flexibility in course selection based on their readiness and capabilities, without rigid time constraints.
- Academic Advising and Continuous Assessment: The program's assessment methods facilitate continuous student monitoring throughout the semester, providing regular feedback and support via academic advisors. A dedicated academic advising program (designed by program coordinator Dr. Ahmed Youssef) assigns faculty advisors to student groups, providing guidance on course registration, continuous assessment monitoring, and addressing student challenges. Support is offered to struggling students, and high-achieving students are encouraged.
- Faculty Expertise: The program boasts a distinguished faculty with extensive experience in civil engineering and construction, recognized for national and international awards, research publications, and contributions to the advancement of the engineering field.
