Laboratories

Laboratories and workshops for the Department of Mechanical Engineering:

Factories & Equipment in Department

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is characterized by a set of equipped laboratories that serve both the curriculum of students at different stages as well as the scientific research of students of higher studies, including:

Heat & Turbine Lab

This laboratory serves the students of the third and the bachelor's stage specializing in its energy as well as graduate students. The plant has a complete steam plant to generate electricity to simulate the stations in the labour market. Plus gas turbine to simulate the gas generating station. The plant has an air pressure compressor up to 13 bars.

Combustion Machinery Lab

It has a diesel test engine and the last single-cylinder petrol. In addition to a petrol engine containing six cylinders with dynamometers to measure capacity and temperatures at multiple points. In addition, the lab contains several measurement devices.

Laboratory Properties and Material Resistance

This laboratory serves students of the second and third stage and students of the bachelor's degree as well as postgraduate students because of the valuable devices contained in this laboratory. For example, the laboratory contains an X-ray metal inspection device as well as tensile, impact, creep, torsion and wearing machines for the conduct of various tests on samples. The plant has a corrosion test device to determine the load of the fracture of its intents at different speeds. There is also a computer mill and a computer drill.

Automated Control and Measurement Plant

This laboratory serves baccalaureate students as well as graduate students. The laboratory has different devices to measure surface roughness both in the lab and in the site and other to measure the roundness and level of surfaces, as well as a projection device to measure the triple dimensions of the sample. It has a CNC milling machine and the another CNC turning machine.

Metal Lab

This laboratory serves the students of the second and fourth stage as well as graduate students where the lab has an electronic microscope to examine and photograph samples. As well as the Metal Analysis Unit for metal analysis and knowledge of each element's concentration. As well as the metallurgical microscope for sample examination and the hardness test ultrasonic hardness device, each treatment provided temperature up to 1600 degrees Celsius.

Demonstration Lab

The students of the fifth stage serve the specialization of cooling and adaptation and the students of the third division is a maintenance subject. The plant has a full-equipped air fan to conduct experiments and tests on different models such as automobile structures and turbine vanes and the plant has multiple measuring devices.

Precision Measurement and Automated Control Plant

This laboratory serves all study teams and postgraduate students because of its importance. The laboratory contains a large number and variety of digital micrometers that are used to measure the altitudes, internal and external diameters, depths, screws, pipes and a large set of indicators to measure the level of surfaces.

Fluid Mechanics Lab

This laboratory serves students of the second stage where it has a pressure-calibration device and a hydraulic control device that is equipped to measure the flow rate and its devices to calculate the loss in the rate of flow.

Solar Power Plant.
