Benha Faculty of Engineering Achieves Outstanding Results at the 2nd Benha University Robotics Competition

From Concept to Industry 4.0: Student Innovation Takes Center Stage

Benha Faculty of Engineering, Benha University, achieved notable results at the 2nd Benha University Robotics Competition, which brought together 30 student teams representing more than 10 Egyptian universities to compete across various fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, programming, automation, and technological innovation.

The competition provided students with an opportunity to transform their academic knowledge into practical engineering solutions and demonstrate their capabilities in designing and developing advanced robotic systems addressing real-world industrial and societal challenges.

PalletiX 4.0 Wins Best Robot Award

The PalletiX 4.0 team received the Best Robot Award in the Super Robot competition for its integrated industrial automation solution.

PalletiX 4.0 is designed to automate industrial palletizing operations while incorporating intelligent monitoring and predictive maintenance capabilities. The project integrates several engineering disciplines, including:

  • Robotics and Mechatronics
  • Industrial Automation
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Condition Monitoring
  • Data Acquisition and Analysis
  • Predictive Maintenance

Unlike conventional automation systems that primarily focus on executing predefined production tasks, PalletiX 4.0 incorporates real-time monitoring and data analysis to identify early indicators of potential faults and support predictive maintenance.

The project therefore represents a transition toward more intelligent industrial automation aligned with the principles of Industry 4.0, where robotics, connectivity, data analytics, and intelligent maintenance are integrated within a single system.

Project Supervisor:
Dr. Muhammed Gaafar,

Team Members:
Ahmed Lasheen, Ahmed Soliman, Ahmed Shalaan, Amira Rabie, Iman Elrobigy, and Aya Mohammed.

SIRIUS Achieves Second Place in Freestyle Competition

The SIRIUS team achieved second place in the Freestyle competition with an AI-driven quadruped robot developed for search and rescue operations in hazardous disaster environments.

SIRIUS is designed to support rescue operations following events such as earthquakes and structural collapses, where unstable environments can pose significant risks to human rescue teams.

The quadruped locomotion system enables the robot to navigate unstable and unpaved terrain, while its crawling mode allows it to access narrow spaces that may be inaccessible to humans or conventional wheeled robots.

The robotic platform integrates:

  • Quadruped locomotion
  • Thermal and visual cameras
  • AI-based survivor detection
  • Real-time sensing and monitoring
  • IoT connectivity
  • Wireless data transmission

By combining robotic mobility, AI-based perception, and real-time communication, SIRIUS is designed to provide rescue teams with valuable situational information and support safer and more informed decisions during search and rescue operations.

Project Supervisor:
Dr. Mohamed Shehata

Team Members:
Saifeldin Elshazly, Ziad Adel, Desouki Safwat, Soliman Zakaria, Haneen Khaled, Hamed Ahmed, Zaid Medhat, Hafsa Alaa, and Sohaila Bahaa.

Engineering Education Through Practical Innovation

The achievements of PalletiX 4.0 and SIRIUS highlight the importance of hands-on engineering education and multidisciplinary student projects.

Both projects demonstrate how students can combine knowledge from mechatronics, robotics, artificial intelligence, automation, embedded systems, IoT, and data analysis to develop integrated solutions for real industrial and societal challenges.

Such competitions provide an important environment for students to test their designs, work within multidisciplinary teams, solve engineering problems under competitive conditions, and gain practical experience that complements their academic education.

The success of the two teams reflects the commitment of Benha Faculty of Engineering, Benha University, to supporting student innovation, practical engineering education, and the development of technologies aligned with the evolving requirements of modern industry and society.

Congratulations to the students and their supervisors on these achievements, with best wishes for continued success in future competitions and innovation initiatives.

Benha Faculty of Engineering Qualifies for the Digital Innovation Challenge 2026 Finals

We are pleased to announce that a student project from Benha Faculty of Engineering, Benha University, has qualified for the final stage of the Digital Innovation Challenge 2026, organized by the Innovators Support Fund - ISF.

The project ranked among the Top 30 teams nationwide, selected from 244 participating teams representing Egyptian universities and institutes, with more than 610 students taking part in the competition.

♻️ Integrated Center for Recycling and Community Development

In Manshiet Nasser – El-Mokattam

The project focuses on developing an integrated approach to recycling and community development, using digital solutions to address real-world environmental and societal challenges.

Its qualification highlights the ability of engineering students to transform innovative ideas into practical solutions with potential social and environmental impact.

The project is supervised by Prof. Dr. El-Moataz Bellah Gamal El-Din.

This achievement also builds on the team’s previous recognition at the 3rd Graduation Projects Marathon at Benha University – 2026, demonstrating the project’s consistency and competitiveness across different innovation platforms.

The final stage will provide another opportunity for the team to present its solution and compete alongside some of the most promising student projects from across Egypt.

Best wishes to the team for the final stage.

Students and representatives of the Student Union of Benha Faculty of Engineering, Benha University, participated in the first day of Sustainability Week 2026 at Heliopolis University, held under the theme:

“Environmental Sustainability”

The participation was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, and Prof. Dr. Jehan Abdel Hady, Vice President of Benha University.

During the event, our students took part in a number of interactive activities and practical workshops addressing sustainability and environmental challenges. Such experiences provide valuable opportunities to connect academic knowledge with real-world applications and to explore emerging approaches to sustainable development.

For engineering students, sustainability is increasingly becoming an essential part of engineering practice—not only through developing efficient technologies, but also through designing solutions that consider their environmental, economic, and social impact.

The participation reflects Benha Faculty of Engineering’s commitment to supporting student engagement, interdisciplinary learning, and exposure to contemporary challenges that shape the future of engineering.

Building engineers who understand today’s challenges and are prepared to design tomorrow’s sustainable solutions.
